Job Title:             Payroll Supervisor
Location:             Mahwah, NJ
Job Type:            Exempt
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: Min. 10 years in a Payroll environment

Job Summary:
Coach USA, a transportation company, is looking for a Payroll Supervisor in their Mahwah office.  This position will report to the Payroll Manager. The successful candidate will have excellent communications and customer service skills as well as a proven track record in a high volume, deadline oriented environment. The position is responsible for multi-state and multi union payroll operations.

Essential Job Functions:
· Manages accurate and timely payroll processing for weekly and biweekly payrolls, reconciles pay discrepancies, payroll tax filings, wage garnishments, W2 processing, facilitating internal/external audits, and assisting with reconciliation of GL discrepancies related to payroll
· Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles and department/location transfers
· Maintains time and attendance records, as required
· Reviews and analyzes payroll practices and procedures and recommends/implements positive changes and solutions
· Oversees pre and post payroll auditing procedures, troubleshoots issues and implements corrective actions eliminating the root cause of issues as needed
· Partners with Benefits and Human Resources Managers in aligning and implementing efficient payroll process and benefit system integration; Collaborates during Open Enrollment and Orientation to ensure enrollments, changes and updates are submitted in a timely manner
· Prepares relevant reconciliation reports, including monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (ie: earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and non-taxable wages).
· Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes and employer’s social security, unemployment and workers’ compensation payments
· Balances payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies
· Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests
· Complies with federal, state and local legal requirements by staying current on new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
· Works closely with Payroll Manager on payroll related projects
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s in business, accounting, finance or related field. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
· Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing varied workloads to meet various deadlines
· Minimum 10 years of payroll processing with multi-state operations for a large number of hourly employees
· Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality
· Extensive knowledge of payroll and time and attendance systems with ADP (Workforce Now)
· Knowledge with unions (ie: union dues)
· Strong interpersonal skills to interact with employees at all levels
· Working experience of payroll taxes at the federal, state and local levels
· Problem solving skills
· High organized and detail oriented
